Surrealism

All of these paintings are so well-done. The artists take basic things, like a sunset or a tree, and turn them into almost bizarre works of art. Surrealism has dream-like qualities as well as many instances of irony.

Lessons Learned - Art Installation

While creating our art installation piece, I learned how to collaborate with a group artistically, and to work as a team to create our artwork together. Each person has a unique point of view, and it is important to utilize all of them to create perspective. To make a good art installation your ideas should be original, and the materials you choose should make the viewer think outside the box. Craftsmanship is a key component to any type of artwork as well.

Red Vine Tree - made by ART 140 Students

These two pictures are both from the same art installation. Each sculpture was lowered into the water by crane. Over time, the sculptures acquired coral and different plant life.

These two photos are so funny! Using everyday objects and even garbage can create interesting art, and adds an element of humor.

These are two really awesome examples of shadow art! I love how the artist play with different angles using light and random objects. For this type of display it’s all about how you look at it.

"Change comes from our minds, not our pockets."
This is my original black and white print.

This is my original black and white print.

During our first project made a print using a piece of linoleum. After carving out my self portrait, I made several prints using black ink on white paper. When I was satisfied with how my prints were turning out, and I figured out how much ink to use on each print, I began to experiment with different colors and amounts of ink. To get to my final project, I used different colored ink on different colors of construction paper. To me, the middle print is the most interesting of the three. To get the color shown here I mixed a turquoise ink and a yellow ink. By rolling them together on the plexi glass, I got a really cool blended/fade effect. Overall I’m really satisfied with how my project turned out. I actually like the simplicity of my prints, and the cleaness of the background.
